The Southwest Chapter of the South Florida PGA held their annual Fall Meeting at Vanderbilt Country Club on October 7th, 2019. The 190 members attended the Meeting of the Membership which included reports from chapter board members and committee chairs, PGA Career Consultant, Kathy Grayson, and SFPGA Foundation Chairman, Tom Wildenhaus, PGA. The members also enjoyed hearing from two of the chapter's valued partners: Woodn't It Be Nice and Signature Golf.
The Southwest Chapter of the South Florida PGA also recognized nine PGA Professionals for the organization's annual awards. The honors encompass a wide variety of skills, roles and abilities within the game and business of golf including "Golf Professional of the Year" and "Teacher of the Year."

Teacher of the Year-Andy Scott, PGA - Andy Scott School of Golf
The Horton Smith Award-Marty Hall, PGA - Florida Gulf Coast University
The Bill Strausbaugh Award-Matt Oakley, PGA - The Glades Country Club
Junior Golf Leader-Bobby Conway, PGA - Stoneybrook
Player Development Award-Heather Angell, PGA - The Verandah Club
Jeremy New Assistant of the Year-Michael Vanover, PGA - Grey Oaks Country Club
Merchandiser of the Year (Public) - Gary Keating, PGA - San Carlos Golf Club
Merchandiser of the Year (Private) - Justin DeFont, PGA - Audubon Country Club
Henry Watkins - Steve Taylor - Titleist
After the meeting of the membership, 109 individuals competed in the Fall Scramble. Congratulations to Balyeat, Sones III, Dero, and Dodson</a> for taking the lead with a final score of -21.
The Southeast Chapter of the South Florida PGA held their annual Fall Meeting at Jonathan's Landing Golf Club at Old Trail. The 119 members attended the Meeting of the Membership which included reports from chapter board members and committee chairs, Section Executive Director, Geoff Lofstead and PGA of American Junior Golf Representative, Lauren Court. The members also enjoyed hearing from three of the chapter's valued partners: CanAm Golf, Bushnell and Signature Golf. New York Life also supported the event.
The chapter awarded the Distinguished Service Award to Rich Waage, PGA of Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club. This award recognizes outstanding members who display leadership and humanitarian qualities, in addition to integrity, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game of golf while helping push forward the mission of the South Florida PGA.
Following the meeting, 50 members stayed to participate in the afternoon scramble.
