Naples, FL - Nick Beddow, PGA and Matthew Sita, PGA win the 2024 Yamaha Pro-Pro Championship presented by Callaway and Toptracer after making a birdie on the first playoff hole at Tiburon Golf Club.
Following a 7-under 65 in round one, Beddow, the Head Professional at Apogee Club and Sita, PGA Assistant Professional at Boca Rio Golf Club sat just one back of the lead going into the final round, but the groups ahead would not be the concern. The Beddow and Rita duo would finish play at 15-under following an 8-under final round.
Catching fire in the final round was the team of Daniel Lee, PGA and John Lento, PGA who carded a tournament low 10-under 62 to match the 15-under, two-day total.
The par-5, 18th hole served as the playoff hole.
“Hit a good drive, hopefully get a 3-wood on or around the green, make a birdie and take our chances from there,” explained Sita while talking strategy going to hole 18.
After a good tee ball from Sita and a positional layup from Beddow, Sita managed to hit the green from 267 out, going on to make a two-putt birdie to secure the Championship.
“It’s my first season down in the South Florida Section, so it's very exciting to get my first win with him (Beddow)”, explained Sita.” We have been friends for a long time going back to the Met Section so to win this event together is special.”
Over the 36-hole stretch, Beddow and Sita recorded only one bogey to go along with their 16 birdies.
“In this type of format, a team event it's just pedal to the medal, make as many birdies as you can,” said Beddow. “We made one bogey, it kind of took us out of our rhythm but we came back with a couple birdies right after that, it was a nice bounce back,” said Sita.
Finishing in a tie for third at 14-under was the team of Nick Latimer, PGA and Justin Hicks, the team of Rod Curl, PGA and Matthew Springer and the team of Taylor Collins, PGA and Christian De Greiff, PGA.
This year’s Championship was hosted at Tiburon Golf Club and Bay Colony Golf Club and welcomed the largest field in Pro-Pro history with 120 teams of PGA of America Golf Professionals.
Yamaha Golf Car served as the title partner of this year’s Championship while Callaway and Toptracer served as the presenting partners. Supporting partners included, Greg Norman, Dunning, Heritage Creations USA, Hole In One USA, JumboMax Grips and Global Golf Sales.
