Honda Classic Cares, the charitable arm of The Honda Classic, is excited to announce the inaugural Honda Classic Cares Play Yellow Birdie Bash benefiting the South Florida PGA Foundation and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.
The event, scheduled for Monday, April 18 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens will host South Florida PGA Professionals all vying to make as many birdies as possible.
“The Honda Classic team is thrilled to host the inaugural Honda Classic Cares Play Yellow Birdie Bash, and we look forward to welcoming 27 two-person teams to PGA National all with the same goal of making as many birdies as possible to raise significant money for our philanthropic partners: Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and the South Florida PGA Foundation...it will be a fun day indeed,” stated Ken Kennerly, Executive Director of The Honda Classic.
The proceeds from the event will be shared between Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation in support of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, as well as the South Florida PGA Foundation.
The Birdie Bash will feature up to 54 SFPGA Members teaming up to play in a doubles golf format on the newly redesigned Match and Staple Courses. The intent is to play from sunrise to sunset, giving each team ample time to make as many birdies as possible. Donors will contribute pledges per birdie a team makes throughout the day.
“We are so grateful for our partnership with Honda Classic Cares and we are extremely excited for the opportunity to be part of this event,” said Tom Wildenhaus, PGA. “I could not think of a better way for PGA Members to come together to raise money and awareness for two impactful organizations in our local south Florida community.”
The South Florida PGA Foundation administers countless outreach programs including, PGA HOPE, Smiling Fore Life, Habitat for Humanity, the Foundation Scholarship, junior golf and more. All these programs are designed to use golf as a tool to enhance the lives of local military veterans, children in hospitals, those taking their first swing or trying to reach the next level.
Jack and Barbara Nicklaus founded the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation in 2004 to provide world-class, pediatric care to children in Palm Beach County and beyond. The Foundation supports Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, which has helped children from every state in the union and 119 countries.
Alongside the PGA TOUR, Jack and Barbara Nicklaus helped launch Play Yellow in 2019 with a mission to raise $100 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals over a five-year period. Honda Classic Cares is honored to further their partnership with the Nicklaus’ and support their efforts to save the lives of children in local hospitals through the first Honda Classic Cares Play Yellow Birdie Bash.
