How I got involved with golf: As a kid, my grandfather was the only golfer in my family. He would take me out to play a round once a week each summer during summer break from school. The time I spent with him on the course is what sparked my love for the game and I have been playing ever since.
When I decided to be a PGA member: I began college as an engineering undergrad and a few semesters in I realized I didn’t have the desire to sit behind a desk all day and look at a computer. This is when I came to the realization that I wanted to do something that I could enjoy for the rest of my life. While looking through all of the career opportunities at NC State, I came upon the PGA Golf Management program and knew right then that golf was my future and I could build my career around the game I love.
My favorite playing memory: My favorite golf memory is from a few years back while home for summer from NC State. I had just been accepted into the PGM program and was working at a local club back home. I was able to get my two (older) brothers and my grandfather together for a round of golf at Tobacco Road Golf Club. We had all been moved away from home and had not had the chance to all play together with our grandfather for a number of years. My grandfather had the time of his life with all of us together on the golf course and we really had a blast spending time with him too. I also was the low round to top off a great day.
One thing about me that people don’t know: One thing people wouldn’t know about me if they just met me is that I am not only a fan of golf, but I am also an avid NASCAR fan. I love to go to races and keep up with NASCAR standings and results all season long. The thrill of the loud cars and the smell of exhaust and burning rubber at the race track is exhilarating.
