The 24th Annual Nelson Cup Matches supported by Taylormade Adidas Ashworth was held today at Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach, Florida. Representing each of the three chapters were 12 Class A PGA Members who qualified for their respective team through their chapter point accumulation over the 2014 season. The Southwest Chapter took an early and commanding lead this morning after the newly implemented Foursome (alternate shot) format. They accumulated 30 points in the morning matches to Southeast’s 13 ½ and Southern’s 10 ½. The Southeast Chapter made a charge in the afternoon singles matches earning 41 ½ points but fell 20 ½ points short as The Southwest Chapter went on to win back the cup after losing last year to the Southeast Chapter. Southwest team standout’s Gene Fieger and Adam DeArmond earned a perfect combined 12 of 12 points in the afternoon singles matches. Also sweeping the afternoon were Southeast’s Alan Morin and Jason Hrynkiw. The victorious Southwest team was comprised of PGA Professionals Joe Allinder, Gary Baker, Justin Bertsch, Jared Blocker, John Calabria, Adam DeArmond, Mark Doss, Gene Fieger, Dan Heaslip, Chris Shultis, and Jay Westerlund.
