ATLANTIS, Fla. – This weekend, the South Florida PGA Junior Championship Tour presented by The Honda Classic will hold event #2 at Sandridge Golf Club. With a strong field, Championship Event #2 is sure to bring great entertainment.
The boys 13-18 age division will feature Vero Beach native Blake Schmalenberger, a regular with the tour for a few years, will be looking for a breakout tournament in his hometown. Also competing in the boys division is Jupiter native Ryder Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe was a standout on the 2014 Challenge Tour and is looking to make an impact on the Championship Tour this year.
The girls 13-18 age division will feature Hallandale Beach native Valeria Pacheco. Pacheco has been a dominate force for the last two years on the junior tour and is also coming off a victory at Championship Event #1 at Madison Green Golf Club. Port St. Lucie native Lea Himpens will also look to make a run at the girls title this weekend. She has been consistent on the junior tour over the last year and has the game to take the title.
This 36-hole, stroke play event will begin with tee times starting at 11:30 AM off #1 on Saturday. Players will be re-paired on Sunday by low score and will start at 8:00 PM with tee times off #1 & #10. Awards will be given to the first and second place winners in each age division (Boys and Girls 13-15, and 16-18) as well as to the overall boys and overall girls winner of the event on Sunday following play. The SFPGA Junior Tour presented by The Honda Classic is a membership-based tour open to boys and girls ages 11-18 in South Florida with the aspirations and skill levels to compete at the High School and Collegiate level and features some of South Florida’s most talented junior golfers. The Junior Tour offers twenty-five two day championship events for junior golfers in South Florida. The 25 events are divided between the Championship Tour, an invitational tour featuring extended yardages, and the Challenge Tour.
