Don E. Beattie Jr. began his journey with us in 1955 in Pompano Beach. It ended too soon, on a beautiful South Florida day in 2006, as he and friends were looking forward to playing golf after lunch. During those brief 51 years he was a tremendous friend to professionals and amateurs throughout the area.
In his quiet, unassuming, selfless way, Don promoted professional events and charity tournaments at The Polo Club at Boca Raton, Addison Reserve, and the Country Club at Mirasol. The Palm Beach County Amateur Association, South Florida PGA and Southeast Chapter, Southeast PGA Seniors, American Junior Golf Association, Treasure Coast Senior Tour, Tri-County Humane Society and countless others benefited from Don’s enormous generosity and dedication. A former President of the South Florida PGA, Don will be remembered and missed by his family, friends and fellow professionals.
It is in the spirit of Don’s selfless giving and generosity that we present this scholarship in his memory.
