NAPLES (April 12, 2017) – Adam DeArmond and Larry Den used local knowledge to help them win the South Florida PGA Club Car Pro-Official Presented by Earth Networks at Fiddlesticks Country Club.
DeArmond, PGA Assistant Professional at Fiddlesticks, and Den, a board member at the club, combined for a 10-under net 62 on the Long Mean course and finished tied with Reed Kleintop and Tim Young of Highland Woods Golf & Country Club.
DeArmond and Den won in a scorecard match based on their lower back nine (7-under 29 to 3-under 33).
“It was a day of adversity,” DeArmond said. “We started out sluggishly, making a team bogey on our second hole. The key moment came when Larry chipped in for net eagle on the 15th hole.
“We started making birdies left and right. We were 9-under on our last 11 holes. It was a good, fun day.”
Kleintop, PGA Head Golf Professional at Highland Woods in Bonita Springs, and Young combined to make eight birdies and an eagle in a nine-hole stretch. But they made just one birdie on their last nine holes.
In addition to DeArmond, PGA and Den, Brian Peaper, PGA Head Golf Professional at Lost Tree Club and Biff O’Reilly were victorious in the gross division firing a 6-under 66 to capture first place.
The tournament teams a PGA Professional with an official or board member from their club. It attracted 42 teams.
